My Malaysian food journal.

A country of many tastes and cultures, a food tourist like myself is able to choose from an impressive variety of dishes suited to Chinese, Indian, Thai, and Western tastes.  I am a fan of a hot and spicy dishes, and I can actually experience my threshold of heat being pushed by just asking the kitchen to cater to my tastes, something I struggle to achieve in many other countries.

One of my favourite restaurants in Malaysia is called Hok Kee, and their salted egg curry is to die for. Another of my firm faves is Zus coffee shop, with the iced Spanish latte and the Malaysian curry puff being a regular order: the curry puff looks just like a small pasty or empanada and is filled with a tasty potato and egg curry.  If your taste is more in favour of Chinese cuisine, then I highly recommend a restaurant called Souper Tang, which bases its philosophy of cooking on ‘wellness for all’. I personally enjoyed the lion’s mane mushrooms, pork belly, and clay pot rice dishes: the food is comparable to a warm hug in your stomach.

All in all, I highly recommend Malaysia as a country to travel in. Not only are the people kind and friendly, but the country contains so many hidden cultural treasures. Why not consider Malaysia for your next trip?
