My homemade pizza journey
I was inspired to make my own pizza by a marvellous BBC presenter, namely Lorraine Pascale, after she demonstrated a fool-proof dough recipe & an even easier way to shape the pizza. She also caught my imagination after using some unique fusion toppings, such as harissa paste or hummus as a base, topped with chorizo, herbs, feta cheese, ….the variety of options goes on, in my opinion.
So read on to discover my personal journey to making a variety of delicious pizzas which can also cost less than a takeaway & use up some store cupboard ingredients.
Start by making the dough:
In a bowl add:
300 g flour
10 g yeast
190 mls cold water
1 tblspn olive oil
salt
Mix into a dough with your hands & knead for 10 mins on a floured surface.
Then top with delicious toppings according to your taste, what’s available in your kitchen, or just sheer whim of expression.
In this pic I topped with tomato puree, mozarella, pine nuts, chitizon& basil: a pretty standard combo. But in my first attempt, I combined cherry tomato & fresh basil paste in tge the blender to make a base puree, then crumbled feta on top & finished with previously roasted cougette & garlic.
10 mins in a preheated oven at 200 degress. Enjoy:)
